Rock Crystal Candle Holder was created by Steve Charles with the late silversmith Jocelyn Burton, bringing semi-precious stone and precious metal craftsmanship into an intimate object. Named for the Romantic era’s devotion to feeling and artistic expression, the collection draws on candlelit rooms and Steve’s fascination with reflective surfaces.
Crafted in Crystal and Lunar Rock, the collection includes a candle holder and an incense burner. Conceived as lifetime pieces, the designs combine Jocelyn’s technical precision with Steve’s material sensitivity.
(NEW TEXT)
The candle holder rises from an irregularly faceted base into a tall column, finished by a geometric cup. Its reduced silhouette allows the mineral itself to command attention. Clouded inclusions, internal markings and changes in translucency make the crystal appear different as daylight fades and candlelight takes over.
The shaped base gives the object visual stability, while the elongated stem lifts the flame above the surrounding surface. Faceted edges catch flashes of light without unnecessary ornament. The result is a sculptural rock crystal candlestick whose character comes from proportion, natural variation and atmosphere.
Jocelyn Burton was known for technically assured work in precious metals, while Steve Charles has long explored reflective stone, inlay and surfaces that carry narrative. Their collaboration brings those disciplines together in an object intended to be lived with rather than treated as transient decoration.
Within this collection, the candle holder forms part of a wider exploration of material, light and atmosphere. The Steve Charles Collection provides context for this craft-led design language, while Rock Crystal Jali Panels continue the exploration of rock crystal, translucency and captured light.
Rock Crystal Candle Holder introduces warmth and ceremony without losing its architectural restraint. Illuminated or unlit, it remains a quiet study in crystal, geometry and craftsmanship.
