Antique Yellow hexagonal terracotta tiles are hand-made clay tiles from the Loire Valley, Bordeaux and Provence regions of France. This terracotta is up to three hundred years in age.
The distinctive shape and great colouration have made this a much-loved floor throughout France and now the world.
Typically, the tile is reclaimed from country houses, but it is also found in a wide range of historic structures.
Antique Yellow Hexagonal Terracotta is usually found in 15 or 20cm (6β or 8β) tiles, but like all hand-made antique materials, size can vary. The thickness varies around 2.5cm (1ΒΌβ).
As part of the Antique Reclaimed Terracotta Floor Tiles collection, Antique Yellow Hexagonal Terracotta brings together a softer yellow tonal family with one of the most recognisable historic French clay formats. The hexagonal shape gives the floor a resolved geometric rhythm, while the antique surface keeps the effect warm, irregular and quietly timeworn.
These Antique Yellow hexagonal terracotta tiles are ideal for interiors where the floor should feel aged, light and materially grounded. Their ochre, honey, peach and earthy yellow tones create warmth without the heavier depth of red terracotta, making them especially useful where a reclaimed floor needs softness and luminosity.
Because reclaimed terracotta varies in colour, size, thickness and surface wear, careful sorting and dry laying are important before installation.
