At Paris Ceramics, we source our terracotta floor tiles from one of Spain’s traditional tile makers. This workshop is the only company left in Europe that fully maintains the tile-making techniques introduced to Spain by the Moors.
The firing process gives Torquemada its colour and patina. The kiln uses three different types of wood, and each one releases a different amount of flame and smoke.
No gas-fired tile can achieve these tones and textures, however handmade it may be. Machine-made products cannot come close.
Wood-Fired Colour and Natural Variation
As terracotta floors, these tiles bring warmth, variation and historic character into architectural interiors.
Their appeal lies not only in their colour. It also lies in the way the surface records the hand, the kiln and the firing process.
Each tile carries subtle differences in tone, edge, texture and patina. Together, these details give the finished floor a rhythm that feels natural rather than manufactured.
Terracotta Floors for Interiors and Exteriors
This tradition has real value because it preserves a lineage of Spanish tile making shaped by Moorish craft. The result is a material with depth beyond decoration.
These floors can feel rustic, formal, Mediterranean or quietly monastic. The final mood depends on the setting, layout and surrounding materials.
Terracotta floors work well in kitchens, entrance halls, garden rooms, bathrooms, courtyards, pool surrounds and restoration projects.
They can also suit contemporary interiors where warmth, tactility and a softer architectural surface are required.
Fleur de Lys Pattern and Handmade Character
The stencilled
Fleur de Lys terracotta floor tiles introduce another layer of pattern and historical reference.
They allow the floor to carry both material depth and decorative character. Used across a full room, or as part of a more restrained composition, the effect feels warm, aged and quietly distinctive.
Paris Ceramics selects terracotta for its authenticity, texture and ability to transform a space without overpowering it.
These are not uniform industrial tiles. They are handmade, wood-fired surfaces with atmosphere, craft and individuality.
We prepare them for interiors that value material presence and enduring character.
