Torquemada terracotta floor tiles are produced by one of the traditional tile makers of Spain, the only company left in Europe fully maintaining the tile-making techniques introduced to Spain by the Moors.

The colour and patina of Torquemada is achieved by the firing process using three different types of wood, each emitting a different amount of flame and smoke. No gas-fired tile, however handmade, can begin to achieve these tones and textures, let alone any machine-made product.
