Antique Blanc Rose terracotta tiles, the most rare of terracotta, are found only in a very restricted area of France.

Hand moulded square tiles in delicate tones of cream, pinks and soft reds make this a highly individual and unusual floor.

The tiles were not made after the 19th century, and most of the floors sourced dated as far back as the 17th century. Many individual tiles are stamped with the maker’s original monogram. Antique Blanc Rose is available in approximate sizes of 16x16cm (6” x 6”), 20x20cm (8” x 8”) and hexagons. Antique terracotta ranges in thickness from 2.5 to 3cm (1” to 1¼”).

As part of the Antique Reclaimed Terracotta Floor Tiles collection, Antique Blanc Rose belongs to the softer, rarer side of historic French clay flooring. Its colour is not the dense red often associated with terracotta, but a quieter range of pale rose, cream, salmon and weathered pink, shaped by regional clay, hand moulding, kiln firing and long domestic use.

These antique Blanc Rose terracotta tiles are especially suited to projects where warmth is required without heaviness. The small square and hexagonal formats give the floor a human scale, while the natural variation in thickness, edge and surface keeps the final installation from feeling too controlled.

Because each reclaimed batch carries its own tonal balance and historic wear, selection, dry laying and sympathetic installation are especially important.
