Paris Ceramics sources its antique terracotta tiles from the south and west of France. Salvaged from period buildings, the tiles are at least 150 years old and were virtually all fired in wood burning kilns giving them their varied colour and less uniform texture than tiles fired in gas or coal fired kilns.
Moulded by hand, which gives them their interesting texture, the tiles reflect the colour of terracotta native to their region; from the yellows of Bordeaux to the warm pinks of the south west – an unmistakeable signature of provenance.
