Two Women (c. 1917-18)
This panel draws out the tenderness and complexity of Klimt’s late figurative work: an embrace that feels protective, intimate, and slightly enigmatic. The mosaic amplifies the contrast between soft skin tones and the richly patterned textile language Klimt loved, turning every motif into a tactile surface you can almost feel. Warm rose and gold tesserae build a glowing atmosphere around the figures, while the stylised birds and ornamental elements keep the scene suspended between portrait and dream.
An artistic smalti mosaic re interpretation of Gustav Klimt’s work by Valter Solari, Chef de Mosaique.
Mosaics Smalti (glass) are handcrafted glass mosaics made from richly pigmented smalti, cut and placed piece by piece to create depth, movement, and a distinctive light-reflecting surface. Each design is built with an artisanal, old-world sensibility - ideal for statement walls, niches, wet areas, and feature panels where you want colour, texture, and craftsmanship to feel unmistakably special.
