SANTA RUFINA WITH POOL COPINGS
IN REFINED FRENCH LIMESTONE
Paris Ceramics had been searching
for a readily available alternative to antique
terracotta floors: a lengthy process of research
and experimentation culminated in the floor
now called Santa Rufina. These tiles are
produced entirely by hand using a mixture
of three different clays. The clays are soaked
in water for two to three months before being
pressed into moulds, and then stamped out
to dry in the open. They are then fired in woodburning
kilns, giving them the colour and patina
of tiles which have been in place for centuries.
